24 Years in the field of healthcare

“The Smile of the Child" celebrated its 24 years of action in the field of healthcare in the presence of H.E The President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos. The Greek Organisation awarded the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Mr Christos Stylianidis in recognition of his work towards providing assistance to vulnerable children in Greece and around the world. 'The Smile of the Child' is an official partner of the European Commission in the field of humanitarian aid (DG ECHO).

 
EU Centre of Expertise for Victims of Terrorism

The Commission will launch an open call for tender for setting up an EU Centre of Expertise for Victims of Terrorism (two-year pilot project). The EU Centre will act as a hub of expertise and provide for concrete and practical actions with a positive impact on victims of terrorism. In particular, it will provide for guidelines and training activities on implementation of the EU rules and will set up lists of the relevant experts available at national level. New Deal for Consumers sparks lively discussion in Lisbon

The fourth Citizens' Dialogue on the New Deal for Consumers took place in Helsinki on Friday, June 1. The event was jointly organised by the Commission (DG Justice and Consumers), the Commission Representation in Helsinki, and Finish consumer authorities, as a way to listen to the views and concerns of citizens in regards to the new legislation being proposed.

The third Citizens' Dialogue on the New Deal for Consumers took place in Copenhagen on Thursday, May 31. The event was jointly organised by the Commission (DG Justice and Consumers), the Commission Representation in Denmark, and Danish authorities, as a way to listen to the views and concerns of citizens in regards to the new legislation being proposed.

The event was jointly organised by the Commission (DG Justice and Consumers), the Commission Representation in Luxembourg, and Luxembourgish authorities, as a way to listen to the views and concerns of citizens in regards to the new legislation being proposed.

The acronym LGBTI stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex and describes a diverse group of persons whose sexual orientation and/or gender identity diverge from the more conventional gender roles of and relationships between men and women. 1 in 3 children in the EU now has access to high-quality and affordable childcare, Commission report shows

Today, the European Commission publishes the report on the Barcelona targets for high quality and affordable childcare. The EU Member States on average have finally reached the target of 33% of children aged 0-3, and are well on track for the second target of 90% of children aged 3 to mandatory school age in childcare. Set in 2002 by the European Council, these targets form a crucial part of the European Commission's strategy to ensure women can participate fully in the labour market.
