The EU Spokespersons stated:

"The Holocaust is a historical fact, it is proven it is documented there can be no doubt as to the fact that these terrible events took place and cast a terrible shadow on the history not only Europe but the World as a whole.

The European Union is appalled be the remarks the President made. We are committed to combat antisemitism and any attempt to condone, to deny, justify or trivialize the Holocaust. This is a very strong position of the European Union. Unfortunately, there is too much tragic evidence about the Holocaust what it meant and how it happened. Such denial of Holocaust as a historical fact is insulting to the memory of millions of people who died a tragic terrible inhumane death in the Holocaust and no-one should ever forget the victims of these atrocities perpetrated by the Nazis and their proxys."
