It’s good to be seen as European Union! Discover the new communication and visibility rules

When beneficiaries receive EU funding, they have to advertise it, but the rules on communication and visibility were often very confusing and disparate...until now.

date:  02/03/2021

Starting from projects awarded in 2021, a set of clear and binding minimum requirements for communication and visibility will apply for all funding programmes of the new long-term budget (for the period 2021-2027).

These changes aim to:

  • reinforce the public awareness of the Union funding by showing that all EU programmes are linked to the European Union and its priorities. For this reason, we need to communicate as one Union (“show the forest, not just the tree”);
  • simplify and uniform the rules across all the existing funding programmes;

What are the new communication and visibility requirements?

'Good to be seen!' – the 10 requirements

  1. General obligation to communicate and raise EU visibility;
  2. Link to the EU's political priorities;
  3. Engage in additional communication activities (depending on the programme);
  4. Use the EU emblem correctly and prominently;
  5. Display a simple funding statement, mentioning the European Union's support (not the programme’s name);
  6. Use accurate information;
  7. Involve the EU when communicating (depending on the programme);
  8. Remember that communication and visibility count among eligible cost;
  9. Grant the EU the right to use your communication material;
  10. Expect financial reductions in case of non-respect of the requirements.

 We, therefore, invite all our beneficiaries to keep these new rules in mind.
