The new EU Strategy on the rights of the child will build upon the 2006 Communication: “Towards an EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child” and the 2011 EU Agenda for the Rights of the Child.

The Strategy will contribute to raising visibility of everything the EU is already doing to protect children’s rights, and it will create new commitment to strengthen children’s rights in the Commission work. The Strategy will bring under one single umbrella all the EU actions for children. With this document we will help to mainstream children’s rights in all relevant policy areas, and this from the very beginning of each relevant initiative.

The Strategy will contain a set of measures for the EU institutions and Member States to implement and it will also include a list of new concrete actions for the Commission to implement in the course of the current mandate. This will be complemented by recommendations for action from other EU institutions, Member States and relevant stakeholders.

Watch the citizen's dialogue with Vice-President Dubravka Šuica, where she talk among other things, about the EU Strategy on the rights of the child.
