The deadlines of DG JUST calls for proposals have been extended!

The deadlines to submit project proposals in the framework of the REC and Justice programmes have been all postponed by two weeks.

date:  24/03/2020

Dear readers, dear stakeholders,

We are all affected by the current coronavirus pandemic, which is heavily affecting our health care systems and forcing the entire population to change its ways of living and working. The situation is critical across all of Europe as we notably face the closure of shops, schools and even our own offices in Brussels. Like many of you, almost the whole of the Commission workforce is now working from home. A common effort is required under these exceptional circumstances; technology thankfully offers us ways to rearrange our work and communicate with each other efficiently.

We have reflected a lot over the past few days on what to do regarding our ongoing calls for proposals and whether to extend the deadlines. Arrangements at national level that create quarantine zones and travel restrictions may hinder the ability of potential applicants to interact, and prepare high quality proposals. Difficulties will also arise as organisations are closed. For these reasons, it is appropriate to extend the deadline for the REC Programme and Justice Programme calls by 2 weeks. This time shall allow applicants to organise methods to interact remotely to the extent needed to properly finalise proposals. We still believe that organisations will be in urgent need of receiving the readily available funds when the emergency is over. Given the exceptional situation, in case of applications where a support letter from public authorities is required, we wish to inform you that such a letter can be included unsigned. The signed copy can be sent by e-mail after the call deadline.

While European Union Member States are undertaking measures to counteract the outbreak of the virus, we also regard this situation as a moment to build bridges and promote European solidarity. This solidarity has always manifested itself through EU funded projects, bringing many benefits to communities and people around Europe.

We hope that you will be able to finalise your proposals as best as you can.

We are here to assist you and wish you and your families all the best in these difficult times.

Take care and stay safe!
