CERIS Disaster-Resilient Societies State-of-Play

The CERIS Disaster Resilience Societies (DRS) State of Play event on 7-10 November has been very successful and proved to be as effective as ever regarding networking and project synergy-building.

date:  13/12/2022

The event enabled 4 days of intense discussions around different DRS themes, namely (1) Disaster Resilience and Insurance, (2) Societal Resilience, (3) CBRN, (4) Health Risks, (5) Technologies for First Responders and (6) Standardisation. More than 30 projects participated in the event, which included “project-to-policy” sessions in which DGs ECHO, HOME and HERA participated.

There were 82 presenters with 58 presentations: all slides are publicly available on the CMINE (a platform issued from the FP7 DRIVER+ project) website at https://www.cmine.eu/page/ceris-november22.

More than 140 participants attended in person and +/- 420 attended online. Overall, the event has been a success by the diversity of the projects and DRS actors represented. This demonstrated once more the great value of thisevent for networking, clustering and synergy-building purposes.

The number of presentations in such a State-of-play event naturally did not allow to discuss project outcomes in depth  and CERIS will consider the possibility for project clusters representing different DRS sub-areas (e.g. Societal Resilience, Technologies for First and Second Responders, etc.) to organise regularly thematic workshops under the CERIS umbrella in the futureOne major annual CERIS DRS State-of-Play Event would, however, be kept in Brussels.

CERIS 2023 agendas for the different thematic areas of the Civil Security for Society programme will be discussed and established in principle before the end of January. Information about forthcoming events will be provided as soon as possible via the CERIS website.
