Single Digital Gateway Hackathon

Single Digital Gateway Hackathon

The Single Digital Gateway Hackathon kicks off with the Brussels edition on 30-31 March. Teams will explore ways of unlocking the Single Market in Europe by designing and prototyping a user-friendly feedback tool to provide feedback on the quality of the services and information used through the single digital gateway or therein, and a single market obstacles tool which would encourage people to report on obstacles they encounter on the single market, what is not working or should be done better.

It’s said that many heads make light work, therefore the idea for these hackathons is to put bright minds from different backgrounds and skills together to tackle one of the toughest challenges in Europe … unlocking the gateway to the Single Market for smarter, better e-services. Teams of up to four members compete for a €5,000 prize for the best solution, judged by a panel at the end of the 24-hour, non-stop hack in Brussels.

Recruitment is still open for Belgian teams of developers, designers, marketers, inventors, start-uppers, tech fans, students, engineers, various experts … in fact anyone with creative ideas and the stamina to deliver on a tight deadline. Ready-made teams or individuals with a compelling idea will all be welcomed. Places are limited, so only the best candidates will be accepted to take part in the hack. Individual applicants will be paired up with a complementary team.

This Brussels hack event is part of a series of Single Digital Gateway Hackathons in cities across Europe with upcoming editions in Tallinn (26-27 April), Bucharest (18-19 May), and Barcelona (31 May – 1 June). All EU citizens over 18 years will be eligible to apply for the these hacathons
