The Directorate-General for Informatics, the IT Department of the European Commission, will host the first Open PM² Conference on 1-2 February 2018 in Brussels to present the ways PM² methodology can enable better project management in the EU and help organisations deal with challenges of project management performance, collaboration with other organisations, engagement with citizens and complexities of managing service providers and outsourced projects.

There will be 27 speakers, 3 keynotes, 14 parallel track presentations, 5 case studies, and 15 short PM² trainings all split into two conference days. The first day of the event will offer keynote presentations, PM² Methodology highlights and case studies such as the WiFi4EU project. It will be followed by a second day of short PM² training sessions open to all participants.

The event is organised in cooperation with the Council of the European Union, the Committee of the Regions, the European Central Bank and the European External Action Service and you will get an insight into how they have implemented the methodology into their organisations.

With representatives from the private and public sectors of more than 42 countries, the conference will provide a valuable networking opportunity and will enable the sharing of knowledge and experiences with the PM² community.

If you cannot attend on-site, you can still follow the presentations and panels via the webstream link here. We will be tweeting the highlights from the event via the @DIGITconf and @EU_ISA2 Twitter accounts with the hashtags: #OpenPM2Conf, #OpenPM2, #projectmanagement, #methodology and #opensource.

The background:

Open PM² is a free and open to all version of the project management methodology developed by the Commission in 2007 and is one of the instruments offered by the Interoperability Solutions for Public Administrations (ISA) Programme coordinated by DG Informatics.

Over the past decades, EU Institutions have accrued significant experience in project management from overseeing thousands of projects, programmes and grants. The PM² Methodology captures this experience and provides a baseline project methodology, facilitating improved accountability, transparency, communication and collaboration on projects undertaken within and across organisations and member states.

Having been designed for and initially adopted by the European Institutions, the methodology also proved to meet the needs of the private sector and is now increasingly used by businesses:
