HaDEA Showcase Event 2026

The HaDEA Showcase Event 2026, titled “EU-funded projects and synergies driving competitiveness and preparedness,” will highlight how EU-funded projects contribute to Europe’s competitiveness and preparedness across key sectors, including digital, industry, space and health.

Enhancing mental health across the EU

New projects have recently started their work to enhance mental illness prevention and care in the EU, supported by EU funding through the 2024 EU4Health calls for proposals.

Projects working on awareness raising and data integration for breast cancer

With 374 800 new estimated cases and 95 800 estimated deaths in the EU in 2022, breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer for women and the most common cause of death from cancer in women. Three projects have recently been launched under the EU4Health programme to advance breast cancer detection and care in Europe and contribute to Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.

Projects working on diabetes prevention

With over 33 million people in the EU suffering from diabetes and an expected rise to 38 million in 2030, diabetes represents a growing threat to human health. Learn more about EU4Health projects working on the prevention of type 2 diabetes across different population groups.

Projects combatting antimicrobial resistance

World Antimicrobial Awareness Week draws attention to the urgent issue of tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The EU is playing a pivotal role in the joint fight against AMR through several initiatives funded under the EU4Health programme.

Projects promoting early detection and prevention of COPD

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a lung disease that causes restricted airflow and breathing problems and is one of the main causes of death worldwide. HaDEA sheds a light on two EU4Health projects working on raising awareness and strengthening prevention of the disease.

EU4Health projects advancing the fight against childhood cancer

On the occasion of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, HaDEA put the spotlight on how funding available under the EU4Health programme is helping to improve long-term follow-up care and also psychosocial support to ensure optimal quality of life of young people affected by cancer.

An in-depth look at how the European Reference Networks (ERNs) are tackling rare diseases

ERNs are cross-border networks that bring together European centres of expertise and hospitals to tackle rare, low prevalence and complex diseases and conditions requiring highly specialised healthcare. HaDEA interviewed Professor Luca Sangiorgi, Coordinator of ERN BOND, the European Reference Network of Rare Bone Disorders, and Chair of the ERN Coordinators Group, which is the governing board of the 24 ERNs.
