EuroMed Justice (EMJ) VI kicked off with an online launching conference attended by high-level representatives of the South Partner countries and European Union Member States.
The Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union started on 1 July. In the domain of Justice and Home Affairs, the Hungarian presidency has set out five priorities: the fight against terrorism and organised crime, trafficking and smuggling of human beings, illicit trafficking of cultural goods, environmental crime and cybercrime.
Mr Erik Fågelsbo has been formally appointed as the new National Member for Sweden at Eurojust. He will succeed Ms Marie Lind Thomsen, with whom he has been working at the Agency as Deputy National Member since March 2020. He already served as acting National Member since July last year.
Ms Eszter Mária Köpf has been appointed as the new National Member for Hungary at Eurojust. Ms Köpf succeeds Mr László Venczl, who had served in the role since 2012 and has now retired. The new National Member for Hungary has long-standing experience in international cross-border judicial cooperation.
On 3 July, Eurojust marked one year since the launch of the International Centre for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression (ICPA) - a unique judicial coordination platform dedicated to supporting national investigations into the crime of aggression related to the war in Ukraine.

Since the outbreak of the Russian war in Ukraine, Eurojust has been at the forefront of supporting accountability efforts. Just six days following the start of the war, Eurojust supported the establishment of a Joint Investigation Team into core international crimes. The JIT partners agreed to a two-year extension during the United for Justice Conference in Kyiv in February.
