Mr Philip Schotland starts as new Swiss Liaison Prosecutor at Eurojust

Mr Philip Schotland took up his duties as the new Liaison Prosecutor for Switzerland at Eurojust today. He succeeds Mr Sébastien Fetter, with whom Mr Schotland previously worked as Deputy Liaison Prosecutor. He has been appointed to serve as the main representative of the Swiss judiciary at the Agency until May 2026.

 
Eurojust and U.S. Department of Justice co-host meeting aimed at ensuring sensitive technologies stay out of the wrong hands

Eurojust and the United States Department of Justice brought together senior European and US officials, prosecutors and law enforcement members for the purpose of stepping up efforts to combat the unlawful transfer of sensitive technology to foreign adversaries. The meeting on 12 July emphasised the urgent need to stop the illicit export of goods to Russia in light of its ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine.

Drug trafficking is one of the most serious security threats facing Europe today, creating an illicit market with yearly earnings of at least EUR 31 billion. At Eurojust, we’ve seen steady increases in the number of drug trafficking cases we handle, often with links to third countries. To better tackle this crime area – among others – Eurojust recently signed Working Arrangements with the Prosecution Services of Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Peru.
