On 1 April, the European Commission presented ProtectEU, a new European internal security strategy to support EU countries in guaranteeing security for its citizens. The strategy calls to strengthen Eurojust’s mandate, as well as that of other JHA Agencies, and to ensure close cooperation between agencies. Ahead of this announcement, President Michael Schmid was pleased to host both Commissioner Magnus Brunner and Commissioner Michael McGrath at Eurojust’s headquarters in The Hague. During these visits, the critical role judicial follow-up to law enforcement actions plays in the EU’s security chain was discussed.
