In the first weeks of November, the Action Clusters of the Smart Cities Marketplace welcome Smart City enthusiasts, AC members and all interested stakeholders to take part in their biannual meeting round. The Action Cluster Integrated Planning, Policies and Regulation starts with a series of monthly Smart City Guidance Package Tutorials from 21 October 2021 14:00 h onwards.
Within the IEA EBC Annex 83 (Positive Energy Districts) initiative and in collaboration with COST Action PED-EU-NET, we are collecting existing guidelines and handbooks related to sustainable development of built environment.
The EO4SDG Initiative of GEO, the UN-Habitat, and other organisations have published a website dedicated to uses of satellite data to contribute to the achievement of the SDG 11 globally.
On 28 October from 3 to 5 PM, the Action Cluster Integrated Planning Policy and Regulation and the Action Cluster Citizens Focus will hold a virtual workshop to support the EuComMeet project’s consortium in selecting the 10 pilot cities.

Coal regions in the Western Balkans, Ukraine and the EU are invited to join an exchange programme to accelerate just local energy transitions. The programme is an opportunity for regions to start direct, one-to-one dialogues, connect with different stakeholders, learn from each other, and transfer knowledge. The START (Secretariat Technical Assistance to Regions in Transition) support programme is concluding its work in two more EU coal regions, Karlovy Vary and Malopolska. The outputs relate to a range of pertinent themes for regions in transition, such as brownfield site revitalisation, energy clusters, RES, skills and employment, and local diversification. The European Commission is glad to announce that the next edition of the Just Transition Platform Meeting – Coal Regions Virtual week and Carbon-intensive Regions seminar will take place online from 15 to 18 November 2021. The event will be the opportunity for stakeholders from coal and carbon-intensive regions to take stock of the lessons learned from the Territorial Just Transition Plans, hear the voices of regions and their journey to phase-out coal, peat and oil shale, learn about the gender dimension of Just Transition and lot more. It will once more include a Multi-Level Dialogue organised by the Committee of the Regions. Registrations will open in October, so stay tuned.
Building on the tools presented in the first two webinars and according to the specific needs identified by participants, the third webinar will focus on participatory methods to enhance larger scale public events, engaging multiple stakeholders in coal regions.
