Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 Bitcoins for two Papa John pizzas to be delivered on 22 May 2010. Within 9 months the two pizzas were worth $10,000, and by 2015 their value had increased to $2.4 million. 

But how was Hanyecz able to buy the pizzas as he was to become the first person to purchase a product with bitcoin? Four days before, on May 18, Hanyecz shared on the Bitcointalk.org that he was interested in buying two large pizzas with Bitcoin. Someone accepted his challenge and ordered, collected and delivered the pizzas to him. And the rest is history.
