This event was organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) in the framework of the Interreg MED MISTRAL project, with the support of the University of Cadiz, the Campus of International Global Excellence of the Sea (CEI-Mar) and the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU)
During this workshop, which brought together all the national institutions concerned, scientists and TFPs, the national hub prepared a presentation on the blue economy (definition and emergence of the concept), the WestMED initiative, its objectives and the main achievements in the case of Mauritania.

The EMODnet Human Activities portal is being developed in the framework of the European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) as initiated by the European Commission. Providing a single entry point for geographic information on 14 different themes, it can also display maritime spatial plans for any country who wishes to use the tool. The European City Facility (EUCF) Call for Proposals under LIFE Clean Energy Transition is open until 3 March 2022. Proposals are invited to run a European City Facility based on the experiences gained under Horizon 2020 and to offer financial support and services to cities and municipalities or their groupings to develop investment concepts for sustainable energy investments. For the first time, applicants were invited to submit their ideas to accelerate the market-uptake of energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions under the Clean Energy Transition LIFE sub-programme. Overall, 18 topics with a total budget of EUR 94.5M were open in the areas of local authorities, digitalisation, innovative financing, home renovation services and citizen empowerment. The first batch of LIFE Clean Energy Transition projects is expected to go live in autumn 2022.
Two papers submitted by the Technical Expert Group (TEG) on Data for MSP have been selected for presentation during the conference. Both abstracts, “Technical solution for harmonizing EU Maritime Spatial Planning within EMODnet” and “Towards a metadata profile for Marine Spatial Plans in Europe”, will be presented on Monday the 14th of February during session 2: "Implementing the digital commons".
