ISA² - Interoperability solutions for public administrations, businesses and citizens

ISA² has a new member – Montenegro!

Mariya Gabriel and Suzana Pribilović

Montenegro is the first candidate country joining the ISA² Programme. The agreement was signed on 29 May 2018 by the EU Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel and Montenegro's Minister of Public Administration Suzana Pribilović.

Montenegro has become the 31st member of ISA², next to 28 EU countries, Iceland and Norway. ISA² is a EUR 131 million programme of the European Commission running from 2016 to 2020. The programme's aim is to develop interoperability solutions for public administrations, businesses and citizens and thus enable better digital public services across borders and sectors.

Montenegro's membership in the programme means that:

  • The country will participate in ISA² activities and benefit from the interoperability solutions developed under the programme;
  • Montenegro will be monitored by the National Interoperability Framework Observatory, which includes a creation of a yearly eGovernment factsheet;
  • A representative of Montenegro will join as an observer the ISA² Committee, an assembly of ISA² member states representatives;
  • Montenegro will get the right to propose new projects under the programme;
  • The country will financially contribute to the programme.

Tweet of Mariya Gabriel

The ISA² Programme is open to countries in the European Economic Area and candidate countries to the EU. Nevertheless, cooperation on interoperability is possible with all countries beyond the EU and Europe. Recently the European Commission's Directorate-General for Informatics has started closer cooperation with Uruguay.
