Webinar: Sustainability of Public Sector Open Source Communities

The OSOR team is happy to invite you to an interactive webinar on the Guidelines for Sustainable Open Source Software (OSS) Communities in the Public Sector, which was developed together with Dr. Maha Shaikh from King's College London. The guidelines are meant to serve as a practical tool that any public sector OSS community (or OSS enthusiast) can use to create and maintain sustainability.

The team will present their most recent work on the Guidelines and work together with the participants to identify how the guidelines could be further improved.

During the webinar, you will also have the opportunity to hear first hand about the experience of working in public sector open source community from two different projects: Fritjof Knier will share of the story of the Integreat platform in Germany and Nephtis Brandsma will present the participatory digital democracy project through CONSUL in Groningen, the Netherlands.

Integreat project at a glance: Launched in 2015, as a student-led project in Augsburg, Integreat has become the leading digital integration platform for new-comers to German municipalities. Fritjof has been involved in the project since its inception and has supported 20 German municipalities in implementing Integreat. He is currently coordinating the international scaling activities of Integreat.

Participatory democracy project at a glance: In 2018, with the goal to enable participatory digital democracy in Groningen, the municipality successfully harnessed the open source CONSUL platform. Nephtis, who has been involved in the project since its inception, works at the Groningen municipality as a product owner. As such, she is involved in participatory processes and the implementation and expansion of the CONSUL community in the Netherlands.
