Better Legislation for Smoother Implementation: September virtual breakfast

On 16 September from 9:30am to 11:00am CEST, the European Commission’s legal interoperability (LIOP) team is organising its monthly Better Legislation for Smoother Implementation (BLSI) Virtual Breakfast. This September edition will be a highly interactive co-creation session around skills needed to design policies fit for the digital age.

The LIOP team’s vision is to make legislation an enabler for the smooth implementation of European public policies. For this, they created a multidisciplinary community to share good practices and co-create tools with interoperability in mind: the BLSI community. As part of this community, they organize virtual breakfasts on different legal interoperability-related topics. Those webinars are a forum for the community to meet, discuss and share innovative ideas.

The LIOP team believes that skills and training is paramount in order to build capacity to create legislation that will be fit for the digital age, interoperable and smoothly implementable. Therefore, it is currently developing its BLSI Learning Hub, including a series of online courses on different topics related to BLSI. As part of this Virtual Breakfast, it will present its ideas for its learning hub as part of the Interoperability academy and gather participants’ feedback on the learning needs and material that it has identified. It will also present its newly released very first online course What is "Better legislation for smoother implementation" and why it needs teamwork (the link on the EU academy will be shared before the webinar with the registered participants).  The purpose of this Virtual Breakfast is to agree on the learning needs and to explore together how the community can further co-create the BLSI learning path.

The webinar will also welcome an inspiring presentation from Fotis Fitsilis who will discuss his experience teaching legal interoperability to Greek public servants.
