By using neural networks which record all weather dependent effects, enercast has develeoped algorithms which can learn from previous performance and weather data. Algorithms utilise the experience and data of previous situations in order to determine future conditions and in doing so continuously improve the forecasts for our customers.

About the Innovator

enercast is a leading technology provider for applied artificial intelligence. Its self-learning software-as-a-service products deliver accurate power forecasts for wind power and solar plants, thus enabling the integration of renewable energy into power grids and energy markets.  Based on its platform for the industrial application of artificial intelligence, enercast meshes internal and external data, identifies value-driving patterns, and consolidates them into meaningful forecasts.  This allows customers in the energy and industrial sectors to unlock previously untapped business potential.

What is the innovation

enercast has calculated the power forecasts for the wind and solar power installations and developed an interface to the central data hub for the integration of the data into the Smart City systems. Moreover, the company has developed the “enercast city system” so that it can be used as a dashboard showing the predicted proportion of renewable energy from energy resources and their localization, a timeline of the predicted energy from wind and solar and the amount of avoided CO2. This was developed in the EU-funded BESOS project.

ENERCAST

Out of the lab - Into the Market

The technology is now on the market. We forecast wind and solar power forecasts in 18 countries around the world. We forecast a total of more than 14,000 wind and PV plants with an output of more than 67,000 MW. enercast allows the integration of wind and solar energy into electricity grids and energy markets by precisely predicting their energy output.

Benefits of participation in the Framework Programme

The participation in the BESOS research project has enabled our research department to improve our innovation for the rest of Europe. Thanks to the insights gained in the project, we were able to offer our technology on the world market.
