At a time where "fake news" has become an emerging issue, it is hard to know if the news or posts you read are true and really happened. TruthNest, developed as part of the EU-funded REVEAL project. will help you obtain an unbiased first opinion on the veracity of a post, on-line and in real time. It is developed by a software provider with massive experience in the news industry, tried and tested by broadcasters and publishers across Europe.

What is the innovation

TruthNest users are able to discover information in social networks, analyse posts and gain insights from data analytics and state-of-the-art analysis features based on artificial intelligence, semantic analysis and network dynamics. In fact, 15 different metrics are produced for that matter, based on various algorithms or web services, each associated with an industry-established verification practice.

Out of the lab – Into the Market

In order to satisfy industry’s demands, we worked on improving its core elements in cooperation with journalists: user interface now meets SoA standards; functionality regarding verification preferences has been enhanced, while increasing security, reliability and scalability levels. TruthNest is currently marketed in commercial bids along with ATC’s News Editorial systems, in Western Europe and the US, where “fake news” is a hot issue. Moreover, an enriched collaborative environment for larger teams to work on news verification has already been user tested.

Benefits of participation in the Framework Programme

The EU framework prgoramme enabled us  put together ideas and expertise in verification towards building a tool specifically focused on adressing this emerging need. It also enabled us to cooperate extensively and continuously with technology developers and journalists focusing on verification. The EU-funded REVEAL project enabled us to ensure these ideas were valid and the development of a reliable focused tool was also feasible.
