Between 16-18 April, the Belgian city of Ghent will be hosting the KSF 2018 Spring meeting under the theme ‘Transparency in a City of People’.

The event will consist of members' meetings, working groups' meetings as well as moderated panel discussions (open also for non-members) and guided visits. Following the success of the Uppsala meeting, a speed-networking session where cities will have the opportunity to present their smart cities projects, activities or new strategies and approaches, will be organized, too.  The general theme of the event will focus on cities' practices, initiatives and new tools to engage with citizens and on creating new forms of democracy in the digital age. In this regard we will dedicate a specific session on the ‘Cities for Europe’ EUROCITIES campaign with concrete examples of dedicated initiatives and events organised by member cities.   "Democracy in a Digital Age" will be the topic of the moderated panel discussion organized on April 17 and open to public. It will cover topics such as blockchain technology and uses, data journalism and fake news as well as access to digital democracy and control of the data. The non-members of the Knowledge Society Forum interested in participating to the panel can register to the event on the attached link by March 30.
