Do you think innovative tools for exchange knowledge, aware society (citizens’ science, social analytics, etc), etc. are helpful and effective to provide long-term engagement? What technology do you consider as more promising to do so?
From my point of view, knowledge exchange tools are very important not only for stakeholder engagement but also for boosting the market uptake of the new technologies. For example, one of the main bottlenecks of the implementation of the smart farming technologies is the ignorance and mistrust of the farmers related to smart technologies that they can implement in their farms to improve their activities. Therefore, innovative tools for knowledge exchange will be very useful.
Are we thinking here of keeping individuals enaged, or groups which are active? Our project (INTCATCH), plans to get citizens involved with their local water environment. If I was active, I might want a tool to help let others know what I was doing, to communicate with like mided people and get others to be involved too... So yes, I think useful.
