Nowadays, that we are in the big data period and a huge quantity of data can be analyzed and management efficiently, I consider that it is completely necessary to adopt any kind of action (perhaps from any legislation rule) to encourage water utilities to share or provide information regarding the operation of their water systems (for instance: wastewater treatment plants -WWTP-). In general, water utilities are reluctant to share the operation data of their facilities. If this lack of information continues, big data tools will have a minor role in the water sector and the assessment of a complete WFD implementation will be more difficult.
