Feed additives and their mixtures (premixtures) are essential ingredients in the manufacturing of compound feed. They help maintain the health of the animals, increase their production, as well as improving the animals’ utilisation of feed and the quality of the food they produce. Member States must verify that feed manufacturers are placing safe feed on the market. This report finds that Member States’ inspections of these manufacturers and other operators, and the testing of feed additives are working well, with only some few areas for improvement.
