Unemployed young people master digital skills

(c) Operational Programme “Human Resources Development, Education and Lifelong Learning”.

Employers in Greece are increasingly looking to hire people with digital skills – particularly digital marketing. That is why the Work Experience Acquisition Programme trains unemployed young people aged 18–29 in digital tools, providing them with a pathway to exciting career opportunities.

Zoi Mpanteli completed more than 50 hours of digital training, provided by the EU-funded programme.  As part of the programme, Zoi gained practical work experience by managing the Lifelong Learning Centre’s website. [It] was very interesting and I applied the knowledge I gained in practice,’ she explains. The opportunity we were given to get to know the world of digital marketing was very useful.’

Thanks to funding from the European Union’s Youth Employment Initiative (YEI), around a thousand unemployed young people have improved their job prospects. They can create and share digital content, form digital strategies, improve a website’s position on search engine results, design and share social media marketing, and use technology to deliver impressive results.

From 2021-2027, the YEI will be implemented as part of the new European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).
