Project summary:

Rural residents require a combination of services provided by family doctors and aftercare specialists. Aftercare services are needed by people of all ages, but especially the elderly in remote rural areas, who may not have their own means of transport.
In response to the lack of specialised healthcare services in remote areas, this RDP funded project supported the establishment of a healthcare centre for the elderly in Švėkšna, Lithuania, offering medical and aftercare services. The financial support helped purchase the necessary equipment.

Project results:

Currently there are nine staff members in the clinic / centre with specialists also providing home-based care to the elderly residents of Švėkšna. According to the agreement with the Lithuanian institution of medical services, some medical services such as family doctor consultations, nursing services and examinations are offered free of charge.
Aftercare services are paid for by the patients.
