Gender equality is a cross-cutting objective of the new CAP for 2023-2027, and Ireland’s Managing Authority has outlined a suite of measures for its future CAP Strategic Plan that support women in agriculture.
The new CAP Regulation proposals are designed to help facilitate female participation in the socio-economic development of rural Europe, with special attention to farming. Member States are required to strengthen their capacity in gender mainstreaming and in the collection of gender disaggregated data. Ireland’s new package of measures includes an increased rate of grant aid of 60% for women aged 41-55 years, women-only knowledge transfer groups, and a call under the European Innovation Partnerships (EIP) initiative for proposals to examine women’s participation in agriculture.
