A renewed strategy for the most remote parts of the EU, the so-called outermost regions, refers to CAP support as part of its plans to continue unlocking these rural regions’ potential through appropriate investment and reforms.
CAP support to EU outermost regions - Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Mayotte, Réunion and Saint-Martin (France), the Azores and Madeira (Portugal) and the Canary Islands (Spain) will help implement the new strategy. It sees sustainable agriculture as a key sector for growth alongside eco-tourism, the blue economy, renewable energy, research, or space activities. Assets to build on include the regions’ young population and rich biodiversity.
