StartupVillage

Stall description

In 2019, we started  StartupVillage in Villahoz, a village of 300 inhabitants. We created a rural innovation ecosystem, both productive and institutional, identified projects through 23 entrepreneurs and advised them on how to develop their projects.

We realised that high connectivity is a basic requirement to foster entrepreneurial ecosystems and promoted 100 mbps connectivity in Villahoz. We then created a coworking/incubation space to support the entrepreneurs and attract new talents like Avijit Sarkar, an Estonian blockchain entrepreneur (CapOneResearch) who settled in Villahoz and will be launching his first product next month - it will also be the first StartupVillage product.

We have now scaled up the methodology to the municipality in Lerma, which is the seat of the sub-region of Arlanza (representing 45 municipalities, including Villahoz and 10 000 inhabitants) and which is looking for greater territorial impact. Our StartupVillage network also includes the national territories of Valencia and North Madrid.
