Yu Zheng

Yu Zheng

Yu Zheng is an Associate Professor (UK Reader) in the School of Economics and Finance at Queen Mary University of London and a Research Affiliate of the Centre for Economic Policy Research.

Previously she was an Assistant Professor at City University of Hong Kong and a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute. Her research interests lie in the areas of economic growth, development and inequality. Her research has appeared in leading peer-reviewed journals such as Econometrica and American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics.

Some of her research has been funded by British Academy and Hong Kong Research Grants Council. Her current research focuses on the role human capital and intangible capital play in generating economic growth and inequality using a combination of firm- and household-level micro data and sector- and economy-level macro data. She serves as an Associate Editor at Economic Modelling and Research in Economics.

She received her Ph.D. in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis.

Covid-19 has hastened changes to how we work and how firms organise production with implications likely outliving the pandemic. I look forward to brainstorming with the stake-holders charting the path of recovery for the European economy.
