Nicola Fuchs-Schündeln

Nicola Fuchs-Schündeln is Professor of Macroeconomics and Development at Goethe University Frankfurt. Prior to joining Goethe University in 2009, she was an assistant professor at Harvard University.

She received her PhD in economics from Yale University in 2004. Her research focuses on the analysis of household saving and labor supply behavior and the endogeneity of preferences. Nicola Fuchs-Schündeln received the 2018 Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize of the German Science Foundation, the highest scientific award in Germany.

She is a member of the Franco-German Council of Economic Experts and of the Scientific Advisory Boards of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Bundesbank. Nicola Fuchs-Schündeln holds many affiliations in international research networks.

The topic of the Annual Research Conference 2021 couldn’t be more timely and urgent. I am looking forward to discussing ways forward out of the crisis with fellow academics and policy makers.
