Commission’s eInvoicing Call for Evidence and Survey receive a strong response

The European Commission has undertaken a comprehensive effort to gather input from all eInvoicing stakeholders in the context of the evaluation of Directive 2014/55/EU. As part of the evaluation, the Commission conducted the eInvoicing Call for Evidence (CfE) and the eInvoicing survey to gather insights to enhance the understanding of the Directive’s impact on the single market and public procurement.

The findings from the Call for Evidence, which was open from 17 March 2023 to 14 April 2023, and the Survey, which ran from 5 May 2023 to 30 June 2023, will inform a comprehensive report to be published.

As part of the evaluation process of Directive 2014/55/EU, the European Commission launched both feedback collection initiatives to gather insights from stakeholders involved in eInvoicing. The Call for Evidence garnered significant interest, with a total of 26 valuable responses received from stakeholders including businesses, public sector organisations, and industry experts. In addition, the Survey received a substantial number of responses as well, with a total of 36 participants providing their insights. These responses have predominantly come from Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), service providers, and business associations, highlighting the valuable perspectives and insights from key stakeholders in the field.

The European Commission would like to thank all stakeholders who participated in the eInvoicing Call for Evidence and the Survey. The total of 60 responses will contribute to shedding light on both the strengths and areas for improvement. Moreover, the collected feedback will build upon further consultations conducted by an external contractor in the context of the evaluation process of the Directive, through which the Commission has received approximately 130 responses including numerous surveys and interviews.
