L'UE se réjouit de la conduite pacifique des élections en Tanzanie et Zanzibar
Le dimanche 31 octobre, la Tanzanie et Zanzibar ont tenu leur quatrième élections depuis la mise en oeuvre du système multi-partis dans le pays. HR/VP Catherine Ashton a souligné dans une déclaration l'atmosphère positive et le nombre record de vote à Zanzibar, où les partis politiques se sont alignés autour de la création d'un gouvernement d'unité nationale.
These elections have reinforced the results of the Referendum in July where Zanzibaris demonstrated that they want to put the troubles of the past behind them and work towards establishing a climate of peace and stability.
Upon invitation of the Tanzanian authorities, the European Union deployed for the first time in Tanzania an Election Observation Mission (EU EOM). A six Member Delegation of the European Parliament also joined the EU Observation mission. The mission, deployed since September, will continue its assessment and remain in the country until the end of the electoral process.
