Commissioner Cioloş in Finland: "The Common Agricultural Policy will support agriculture all over Europe"

During his official visit to Finland on 14-15 of July 2010, Commissioner Dacian Cioloş had meetings with the representatives of the Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners MTK and visited milk and beef production farms in Kontiolahti and Eno in the North Karelia region.

Back in Helsinki on 15 July, Commissioner Cioloş discussed with Mrs Sirkka-Liisa Anttila, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, the future of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) post 2013, the national support measures granted to Finland by the Accession treaty and EU policies on forestry. Later in the day, Mr. Cioloş met the media and NGOs representatives to discuss issues such as a greener CAP and animal welfare.

Before returning to Brussels, Commissioner Cioloş met the members of the Grand Committee and the Agriculture and Forestry Committee of the Finnish Parliament. “Under the future Common Agricultural Policy, we will make sure to support agriculture all over Europe, including the less favoured areas of the continent", Commissioner Cioloş stated on the occasion.
