What do these country profiles cover?

The country profiles outline the latest national socio-economic developments and challenges for children and their families. They also summarise any relevant policy initiatives for the year 2017.

The profiles provide an up-to-date description of national developments, available in English, German and French. They are structured along the three policy pillars of the European Commission Recommendation of February 2013 on Investing in Children: breaking the cycle of disadvantage.

In addition to recent policy developments, the profiles also include information on:

  • Examples of national policy and practice innovations.
  • Links to relevant recent reports on the subject, including the 2017 Country Specific Recommendations (CSR) related to ‘Investing in Children’ and European Social Policy Network (ESPN) Country Thematic Reports on progress towards the implementation of the Recommendation.
  • Key Eurostat indicators based on the three policy pillars of the Recommendation.
