Our #lovemyapprenticeship contest, a photo and video competition for apprentices across Europe, has now come to a close. We are happy to announce the winner!

It was not easy to pick a winner from our Top 10, but Rúben Salazar's colourful and vibrant photo particularly impressed the European Commission's jury, and he will soon be learning a new language in a foreign country. Congratulations Rúben!

Congrats also to Enrique Lorente for getting the most likes in the competition, and to Noemí García Iglesias for the best storytelling in the Top 10. Both get a spot prize for their efforts!

Background

Between 26 October and 23 November 2015, DG EMPL ran an online photo and video competition for apprentices across Europe. The goal was to engage apprentices and highlight how interesting and varied apprenticeships can be, as well as to counter their general image as second-choice career options for young people.

The competition was open to young people between the ages of 16 and 24 doing an apprenticeship in any EU country. Participants were asked to take a picture or make a short video of themselves at their workplace and post it on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram mentioning the #lovemyapprenticeship hashtag.

The main prize was a two-week trip abroad to do a language course to learn English, French, German or Spanish in the UK, France, Germany or Spain, including travel expenses up to €500 and accommodation in school facilities or with a family. 15 spot prizes were foreseen for the best weekly entries plus first, 100th and last entry.

Entries competed on the basis of "likes" received, with the overall winner being selected by an internal jury from a shortlist of 10 candidates with the most "likes".
