The EC-funded MoveS network (Free Movement and Social Security Coordination) organised a lunchtime webinar on 7 July 2023 between 11:00 and 13:00 CEST.

In 2022 MoveS wrote a report on "The relationship between the Regulations on the coordination of social security systems and the Directive on the application of patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare". The aim of this lunchtime webinar was to share this work and to continue and enrich the debate on the now decades-old topic of cross-border healthcare and to reflect on the regulatory framework and need to take into account the innovations nowadays' technology offers.

This webinar offered the opportunity to further reflect on the basis of a commentary by the authors of the report on the most difficult issues to resolve, at a theoretical level. This was then followed by a more practical point of view provided by a national point of contact for cross-border healthcare. The latter speaker offered some examples of the concrete challenges faced by patients when using cross-border healthcare services.
