The objectives of the event are:

  • to discuss how education can support people to access the job market and escape poverty;
  • to gather people experiencing poverty's input on policies to foster social convergence in Europe;
  • to strengthen the participation of people experiencing poverty in policies that affect them.

The meeting will provide an open space for discussion and exchange between people from different EU countries, and is an opportunity for people experiencing poverty to have their say in European policymaking. This will be done by bringing together people experiencing poverty, representatives of national governments and EU institutions, European and national NGOs and academics.

This event is organised by the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) with the financial support of the European Commission and in association with the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Annual European Meetings for People Experiencing Poverty have been organised since 2001.
