Although the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia is one of the youngest partners of the well-established Pohoda festival held at the Trenčín Airport (Western Slovakia), its EUropa stage fitted very well in the festival "landscape".
During its 14-year history the festival has become a real phenomenon combining all styles of music, dance, film, fine art and literature. Thanks to its dynamism, versatility as well as its cross-boundary character, the event has been ever growing in popularity, becoming a highly acclaimed meeting-point for thousands of good art fans not only from Slovakia but also from across the entire continent.
The programme of the EUropa stage was designed with the special attention to the message of the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion 2010. Thanks to of theatre performances, poetry readings, discussions, personal testimonies and concerts some 15 000 to 20 000 visitors of the tent had an unique opportunity to share their ideas, concerns and hopes. Another meeting place was an EC Representation's information stand directly next to the stage offering a wide range of edutainment activities.
