President Barroso participates in 'Portugal: Path to growth and jobs' conference in Lisbon

On 11 April President José Manuel Barroso and several Commissioners travelled to Lisbon for the conference 'Portugal: Path to growth and jobs' ('Rumo ao emprego e crescimento').

President Barroso spoke at the opening session of the conference, which discussed how EU policies and funding can help Portugal to emerge stronger from the crisis.

Also attending from the Commission's side were:

- Antonio Tajani, Vice-President for Industry and Entrepreneurship;

- Androulla Vassiliou, Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth;

- Maria Damanaki, Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries;

- Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for Regional Policy;

- László Andor, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion; and

- Dacian Cioloş, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development.

Portuguese President Aníbal Cavaco Silva and Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho also speak at the event, which is open to the press.

The speech by President Barroso at the conference will be broadcast on 11 April 2014 at 7.30pm CET by EBS.
