European Trade Unions are often engaged in skills development, and more specifically apprenticeship training. This involvement may take place at European, national, sectoral and/or enterprise levels.

This webinar will look into why Trade Unions are involved and explore the benefits for the Unions, their members and workers in general. The webinar will also discuss the nature of their engagement, whether it is in terms of participating in regulatory and/or consultative bodies, engaging in collective bargaining and/or providing support and guidance for workers at the enterprise level. Not all trade unions are involved in apprenticeship training. Hence, the webinar will also focus on the barriers to trade union engagement and the strategies to overcome them.

Subsequently he has taken on responsibilities for apprenticeship training, and was the author of 'A European Quality Framework for Apprentices - A European Trade Union Proposal' (ETUC, 2016). He is currently acting as an expert for the European Commission and the International Labour Organisation.
