Megalizzi–Niedzielski prize for aspiring journalists: 2024 winners. New financing opportunity for media
- 09 October 2024

Launched in 2019, the Megalizzi–Niedzielski prize for aspiring journalists pays tribute to the memory of Antonio Megalizzi and Bartek Piotr Orent-Niedzielski, two passionate young European journalists deeply committed to the EU and its values. Both tragically lost their lives following a terrorist attack in Strasbourg in late 2018.
At the awards ceremony, the Commission also unveiled its 8th call for proposals aimed at supporting media activities focused on Cohesion Policy. Backed by a total budget of €3.5 million, this initiative invites media outlets, universities, communication agencies, and both private and public entities to submit their proposals for producing editorially independent content on the subject. Selected projects will receive grants covering 80% of their costs, with funding of up to €200,000 available for each beneficiary. The deadline for application is 07 January 2025, 17:00 CET.
