Purchase of new production machinery gives MARETO an international advantage

  • 14 December 2014

An innovative new production line for plastic tubes and closures has increased the efficiency of plastic production and optimised the workflow. The company in Parndorf, eastern Austria, benefits from high customer satisfaction thanks to technological development.

The project ‘Purchase of a concatenated plastic tubes production line and development of a closure production’ was implemented to fullest satisfaction. The ERDF support contributed crucially to a timely implementation and the company’s business targets were reached as planned. Especially thanks to the new technologies and the independence that was created, customer confidence was created sustainably.

Project coordinator, MARETO Kunststoffverarbeitung GmbH

The fully automated production line boasts state-of-the-art technology, including printing machines, a camera surveillance system, and a packaging system. Thanks to this technological advantage, MARETO has been able to diversify their production, increase efficiency, and optimise the production line workflow, and thereby gain an edge over their international competitors. In addition, dependency on suppliers has been reduced, and customer relations improved.

Global production benefits the local population

MARETO Kunststoffverarbeitung GmbH, a daughter company of the TUPACK group specialised in packaging, is located in Parndorf in the Austrian region of Burgenland. It produces lipcare sticks and plastic tubes for international customers, including global big names such as Beiersdorf, Estee Lauder, Johnson & Johnson, or L’Oréal.

Even though most of MARETO’s plastic production is intended for the export, the local population benefits from the new production facilities. MARETO now employs 605 people, up from 416 in 2010. The ERDF-supported purchase of new production machinery has contributed to securing these jobs. In addition, local companies now have more possibilities of contributing to new projects.

The project thus not only contributes to the operational programme’s goals of strengthening the competitiveness of regional businesses through investments in innovation and technological development, but also supports an important regional employer.

Total investment and EU funding
