The construction of a bypass on road I/58 around the city Pribor in Monrovia-Silesia is bringing major benefits to local residents and motorists. In addition to easing congestion in the city, speeding up journey times and increasing road safety, the new route is improving links with other parts of the country.

Around 8 km of the I/58 has been built or reconstructed as part of a scheme, which also saw the I/48 road widened into an expressway. The work has improved the environment for local residents by taking traffic away from the city. The new route also creates a high-quality north-south connection – in particular, it helps to provide an efficient road link with Ostrava, the Czech Republic’s third biggest city. Furthermore, the I/58 links with the R48 and I/35 roads, which are both important east-west transport routes to Poland and Slovakia.
The project includes the construction of nine bridges, six on the I/58 and three on neighbouring roads. In addition, 12 road relocations were carried out along the route. In all, about 5.3 km of brand new road was laid as part of the scheme, the rest being redeveloped.
The project is divided into three sections:
The Lubina section, with a total length of around 1.6 km, which runs near the Kopřivnice industrial zone and then through agricultural land and on to the Kopřivnice-Lubina residential area.The western bypass of Pribor, with a total length of about 3.7 km, running through farmland and ending at the grade-separated junction with road I/48.Part of the R/48 which runs for 1.8 km, and includes four connecting ramps and double-sided corridor pavements built on the intersection of I/58 and I/48.Total investment and EU funding
Total investment for the project “Road I/58 Pribor-bypass” is EUR 56 114 259. The EU’s European Regional Development Fund is contributing EUR 47 697 120 through the “Transport” Operational Programme for the 2007 to 2013 programming period, under the priority “Upgrading Class 1 roads outside of TEN-T”.
