Europe in My Region - North Rhine-Westphalia

As part of “Europe in my region”, regional communication campaigns are deployed around familiar places, and highlight EU-enabled ideas and initiatives that make a difference at the local level. These regional campaigns with an ultra-local flavour are created in partnership with the Regions.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, from the 1st of November until the 1st of December 2023, these emblematic places and initiatives are highlighted:

• The “Jahnplatz” in Bielefeld: bicycle parking facilities, eco-friendly transport
• Improved pedestrian and cycle paths between Otto-Brenner-Straße and Elpke
• Connection of the district centre to the green corridor of the Ostmannturm neighbourhood
• “Youschool” mobile learning stations: educational and leisure facilities for young people

New connections are being created here:

The newly designed Jahnplatz in Bielefeld serves as a meeting place and creates an improved living and mobility experience in the city.

An optimised network of footpaths and cycle paths connects the city centre with the surrounding green spaces and allows more freedom of movement for young and old.

Our region is moving ahead and becoming more environmentally friendly - with the support of the European Union and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
