The Digital Innovation Centre of Future Technologies will be located in the Visoriai Information Technology Park (VITP) to provide small and medium-sized companies in the laser, optical technologies and space sectors with much-needed laboratories and testing areas.
Comprising almost 7 000 m2 of space spread over five floors, it is expected to contribute to the creation of up to 200 jobs. With the ERDF funding EUR 651 600 of the overall cost, construction of the centre is scheduled for completion by February 2022.
This is the first of three such centres being built in the VITP for a total sum of EUR 32 million. The aim is to encourage investment in the development of innovative products and services, and to create skilled jobs, thereby boosting the economy in both the region and across the country as a whole.
