SELFIEforTEACHERS Experts’ Network Workshop

On 22-23 February we met with 40 experts (policy makers, academics/researchers, teacher trainers) to share experiences on how SELFIEforTEACHERS can be used in different education settings. Discover our main findings.

On 22-23 February took place in Brussels the ‘SELFIEforTEACHERS Experts’ Network Workshop’, where we met with experts from around the EU and beyond.

The aim of this workshop was to share experiences on how SELFIEforTEACHERS can be used in different education settings. It was also an opportunity to receive their feedback and gather ideas on how to advance it further.

Among others, the outcomes of the workshop were:

  • SELFIEforTEACHERS is well accepted by academics/researchers, teacher trainers as well as practitioners.

  • It should maintain its focus on didactics and pedagogy rather than on technology.
  • A version for pre-service teachers (students to become teachers) should be considered.

  • Communication materials and training courses should be developed locally (e.g. Ministry of Education), yet the Commission should keep the role for developing guidelines/directions as to where these courses/resources lead.

  • There are many Erasmus+ projects with reference to DigCompEdu and SELFIEforTEACHERS and possible synergies should be explored.

  • DigCompEdu framework needs update as current developments in the field of digital education require to incorporate new trends and argue about them on a theoretical basis.

  • All those involved in children’s learning (e.g. teachers, parents) should be trained to acquire digital skills.

About SELFIEforTEACHERS

SELFIEforTEACHERS is a self-reflection tool that aims to support teachers to develop their digital competence.

It was designed and developed by the European Commission and allows teachers to identify their strengths and gaps and design their learning paths to develop further their digital competence.

SELFIEforTEACHERS is based on the DigCompEdu conceptual framework while at the same time it responds to new pedagogical needs and trends.
