What's new in the Speech Repository?

On December the 3rd 2018, we held our annual Speech Repository Steering Committee meeting. The Committee is composed of several members of the European Institutions as well as of two university representatives. This time we had the pleasure of welcoming Ms Susan Folan from the National University of Ireland, Galway, from non-EMCI universities and Mr Dirk Reunbrouck, KU Leuven, Belgium for the EMCI consortium.

During the meeting, we presented the outcome of the 2018 activities, defined objectives for 2019 and discussed possible future developments in the Speech Repository.

In  2018, we published 306 speeches (of which the top five languages are: IT, ZH, EN, ES, CS) and recorded 200 new speeches which will be gradually added to our speech bank. As every year, we also received speech contributions from the EMCI, who provided 84 speeches and from Charles University Prague who provided 34 speeches. We are grateful for this collaboration.

In 2019, we decided to focus on adding approximately 300 new speeches and concentrate on languages in high demand (EN, FR, DE, ES and IT) as well as on languages of the upcoming presidencies.

The Speech Repository currently hosts 4249 speeches.
