Public Hearing: SCHEER guidelines on the benefit-risk assessment of the presence of phthalates in certain medical devices
date: 14/02/2024
Are you a scientist or technical expert with a passion for advancing our understanding about the presence of phthalates in medical devices?
If you wish to participate in the Public Hearing scheduled for 11 April 2024, please register for the event before 17 March 2024.
The Public Hearing aims to improve the scientific basis of the Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks (SCHEER) guidelines on the benefit-risk assessment of phthalates in certain medical devices.
The SCHEER has produced a preliminary update of the guidelines at the request of the European Commission. The guidelines cover phthalates which are carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic to reproduction (CMR) or have endocrine-disrupting (ED) properties.
To participate in the Public Hearing candidates should be scientists with appropriate expertise in the field and should be able to present and understand the scientific arguments.
The Secretariat and the Chair of the SCHEER Working Group aim to ensure that participants attending the meeting limit their interventions to scientific matters, such as, for example, providing additional scientific evidence, discussing data interpretation, or clarifying data. Participants must not be involved in public relations or lobbying activities.
