EU Consumer Food Waste Forum: Call for expression of interest

date:  21/07/2021

Interested in contributing to EU efforts to fight consumer food loss and waste?

The Commission has launched on 12 July 2021 a public call for expression of interest for researchers and practitioners working on practical solutions to reduce consumer food waste, to join the European Consumer Food Waste Forum.

The largest share of food waste generated in the EU is from households and food services.

In order to address prevention of food waste at the level of consumers, the European Commission is looking to establish a multi-disciplinary forum of researchers and practitioners in the area of consumer food waste prevention. The forum will gather data and identify various evidence-based, practical solutions to reduce food waste at the consumer level, including household and food services. The forum will issue research- and evidence-based recommendations and develop tools to help reduce consumer food waste, aiming to produce a compendium of best practices to facilitate uptake of effective interventions. These will contribute to the work of the EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste and that of other players to help reduce consumer food waste.

The call for expression of interest will be open until 12 August 2021. Interested stakeholders are invited to follow the link below to learn more about the call and to submit their applications:
